Angela (stylized: angela) is a Japanese pop band known for the fact that their songs are used as opening and closing titles for various animes . The main members are Atsuko and Katsu. Her songs mostly use upbeat combined with a mixture of electronica, dance, rock, swing, minimal jazz, jazz and ska. In 2008 they formed another band called Domestic Love Band ( ド メ ス テ ィ ッ ク ・ ラ ヴ バ ン ド , Domesutikku Ravu Bando ).

history

Although Atsuko and Katsu were both born in Okayama Prefecture, they first met in Tokyo at the music school. In 1993 Angela was founded and they started out as street musicians. In 1999 they released their debut single, memories , but the release received little attention.

In 2002 Angela was signed by King Records . The breakthrough came in 2003 with the anime Uchū no Stellvia , for which they contributed the opening credits Asu e no brilliant road ( 明日 へ の brilliant road), as well as three credits , which were released on two singles, as well as their first album Sora no Koe ( ソ ラ ノ コ エ ) have been published. Since then they have worked on pieces for the Sōkyū no Fafner series and have further studio albums in the form of I / O (2004), PRHYTHM (2006), a best-of album called Takarabako - Treasure Box ( 宝箱 -TREASURE BOX-; 2007), Country Ho! (2009) and mirror ☆ ge (2011). In 2013 they released their sixth studio album on the occasion of their anniversary, which was released under the name ZERO . The album landed on 10th place on the Oricon charts, which made ZERO their second album after PRHYTHM , which landed in the top 10.

In 2004 Angela played at the Otakon Convention in Baltimore, Maryland. The following year she performed at Sakura-Con in Seattle, Washington State, and Fan Expo Canada (also known as CN Anime) in Toronto, Canada.

On September 19, 2015, Angela performed at the Connichi in Kassel, where she said she played a concert in Germany for the first time.
