Ludwig von Donle
Ludwig Donle , from 1914 Ritter von Donle , (born January 21, 1869 in Schweinfurt , † January 7, 1942 in Regensburg ) was a German ministerial official and shipping manager.
Life
He was the son of the Higher Regional Court President Eduard von Donle. After graduating from Melanchthon High School in Nuremberg , he studied law in Erlangen, Berlin and Leipzig. In 1888 he became a member of the Onoldia Corps , to which his father was also a member. After the assessor exam, he was accepted into the service of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Royal House and Foreign Affairs in 1895, where he rose to the position of Ministerialrat, Imperial Herald and Advisor to the Royal House. In 1913 he was a co-founder of Bayerischer Lloyd Schiffahrts-AG . From the beginning of 1918 to 1939 he was General Director of Bayerischer Lloyd. After the First World War he was largely responsible for the reconstruction of the company's mostly destroyed ship fleet.
As an expert delegate for inland navigation, he took part in the peace negotiations in Bucharest and Versailles as well as in the Paris Danube Conference of 1920/21 .
From 1922 to 1933 Ludwig von Donle was President of the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry . He was involved in the renewal of Germany's economic relations with the other Danube countries and negotiated cooperation agreements with Danube shipping companies in other countries.
Honors
In 1914 King Ludwig III. awarded him the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown . With the award the elevation to the personal nobility was connected and he was allowed to call himself Ritter von Donle after the entry in the nobility register . He was also the holder of the Order of Merit of St. Michael II Class and numerous other orders and decorations .
Donle was named a Privy Councilor, later a Real Secret Councilor.
In Regensburg the “Von-Donle-Straße” is named after him. In addition, a wheel motor ship owned by Bayerischer Lloyd was named "Ludwig von Donle".
