Angela Michalowski

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Angela Michalowski (* 10. November 1951 in Dresden as Angela Cassens ) is a former German badminton player . She won 7 GDR individual and 10 GDR team titles for Unity Greifswald . With 23 wins in a total of 25 appearances in the national team, she is the most successful national player in the GDR. She is the sister of Claus Cassens and the sister-in-law of Monika Cassens . Angela's husband Edgar is also a successful former badminton player. Ilona Michalowsky , Norbert Michalowsky , Lothar Michalowsky , Katja Michalowsky and Petra Michalowsky also ensured sporting success for the extended Michalowsky family .

The spelling of the last names of the Michalowski (y) family, which was accidentally changed by a registrar, was standardized after the fall of the Wall to a final Ypsilon.

Angela Michalowski lives today with her husband Edgar in Weitenhagen . Occasionally she still plays in the league team of BSV Einheit Greifswald, more often she plays in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional league . In 2008 she was able to celebrate another great success by winning the European Championship in women's singles O55 in Punta Umbria, Spain. In 2009 she won the world title in women's singles O55 in the same place and thus crowned her long career.
