Angela Drexl (born March 8, 1968 in Bayrischzell ) is a former German ski racer . The slalom specialist reached eighth place at the 1991 World Championships , made two World Cup points and was German champion four times .

biography

Drexl achieved her first success in 1986 when she became German runner-up in slalom behind Michaela Gerg . The following year she won the German slalom championship for the first time. International successes began in the winter of 1989/90. Drexl achieved third place in the slalom classification and fifth place in the overall classification in the European Cup . In addition, she was again German slalom champion in 1989 and 1990.

Drexl won her first points in the World Cup on December 2, 1990 with eleventh place in the first slalom of the 1990/91 season in Valzoldana . This was also her best World Cup result at the same time. She qualified for the 1991 World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm , where she came in eighth place in the slalom as the best German, at the same time as the American Heidi Voelker . At the end of the season Drexl scored 14th place in the Waterville Valley slalom for the second and last time in the World Cup. She finished 24th overall as the second best German in the Slalom World Cup, immediately behind her team colleague Anette Gersch . After this winter Drexl did not achieve any more international success. Her last national success came at the German Championships in 1992, when she became German Slalom Champion for the fourth time.
