Angela Schneider (rower)

Angela "Angie" Schneider (born October 28, 1959 in St. Thomas , Ontario ) is a former Canadian rower.

Career

The 1.80 m tall Angela Schneider finished fourth at the 1983 World Championships with the Canadian eighth . The following year, at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Marilyn Brain , Angela Schneider, Barbara Armbrust , Jane Tregunno and taxwoman Lesley Thompson formed the Canadian foursome with taxwoman . The Canadians won the silver medal two seconds behind the Romanian Olympic champions. In 1986 Schneider finished third at the Commonwealth Games and fifth at the World Championships with the Canadian eighth .

Angela Schneider mainly did athletics at college and only started rowing at the University of Western Ontario . In 1982 she graduated in movement science and philosophy . In both subjects she took up a Masters course, which she completed in 1984 and 1986 respectively. In 1993 she did her PhD in ethics and philosophy. Since 1997 she has taught at her university. In addition, she took on tasks at the International Center for Olympic Studies and the World Anti-Doping Agency. She also remained active as a rower in the senior sector.
