Angelika Fergenbauer-Kimmel

Angelika Fergenbauer-Kimmel (born March 22, 1951 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German biologist , specialist author and specialist editor in the field of parrots .

Fergenbauer-Kimmel has kept parrots since 1969 and especially breeds fig parrots . In 1982 she received the Consul Cremer Prize for the first European breeding of the red-bellied parrot . The topic of her doctoral thesis, published in 1984, is the ontogenesis of the star compass in garden warblers . She sat in the expert group for the report on the welfare-friendly husbandry of birds, which formulated the minimum requirements for the keeping of parrots (1995) . From 1985 to 1992 she was part of the editorial team of Trochilus magazine . From 1994 to 2012 she was editor of the journal Parageien of the Arndt-Verlag (Bretten) . From 2012 to 2016 she edited veterinary articles there and advised the journal scientifically. In 1995 she became co-editor of Ecotropica, the journal of tropical ecology . In 2016 she was a member of the jury for the Tropical Ornithology Prize of the Society for Tropical Ornithology .
