Angelika Redder

Angelika Redder (born September 5, 1951 in Düsseldorf ) is a German Germanist .

Angelika Redder studied German, general linguistics, geography and philosophy at the University of Düsseldorf . The first state examination took place in 1976 in German, linguistics and geography. In 1983 she received her doctorate from Dieter Wunderlich in Düsseldorf with a thesis on modal verbs in classroom discourse. In 1989 he completed his habilitation at the University of Münster with the thesis "Grammar Theory and Linguistic Action: 'denn' und 'da'". She was a research assistant at Wunderlich in Düsseldorf (1978 to 1980) and at the University of Hanover (1980 to 1983). From 1984 to 1989 she worked as a university assistant in Münster. Redder taught as a professor in Hanover (1989 to 1990) and Munich (1990 to 2003).

Since 2003 she has been teaching as a professor for German studies at the University of Hamburg . From 2000 to 2003 she was the first chairwoman of the German Society for Linguistics . From 2005 to 2015 she was director of the Center for Linguistics (ZfS) at the University of Hamburg. From October 2009 to November 2010 she was acting dean of the Faculty of Humanities in Hamburg. From 1997 to 2001 she was a board member of the German Association of Germanists . Redder is a full member of the Academy of Sciences in Hamburg .

Her main research interests are linguistic pragmatics (discourse and text analysis, communication in institutions, intercultural communication), functional grammar, science communication and linguistic empiricism.
