Angelika Tiny

Angelika Winzig (born May 9, 1963 in Attnang-Puchheim ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and entrepreneur. She was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2010 to 2013 and a member of the National Council from 2013 to 2019 . She has been a member of the European Parliament since July 2, 2019 .

education and profession

Angelika Winzig attended the girls' elementary school in Attnang-Puchheim from 1969 to 1973 and the grammar school in Vöcklabruck from 1973 to 1977 . She then moved to the Higher Federal College for Economic Women’s Professions in Bad Ischl and passed her Matura there in 1982 . In 1982 she began studying commercial science at the Vienna University of Economics and Business , where she also studied at the University of Geneva and focused on corporate management, hospital management and tourism during her studies. She completed her undergraduate studies in 1987 with the academic degree Mag. Rer. soc. oec. and then pursued a doctoral degree from 1987. 1989 doctorate it to the Doctor of Social and Economic Sciences ( Dr. rer. Soc. Oec. ). After completing her studies, Winzig was employed as Marketing Manager at BASF in Ludwigshafen from 1990 to 1996 , where she was employed in Europe, Asia, the United States and South America. In 1997 she founded the powder coating and paint packaging company Powder Tech Dr. Winzig GmbH and became its managing partner.

Politics and functions

Her political career in local politics began in 2003 as a substitute member of the town council of Attnang-Puchheim. It was 2004 District Chairwoman of the Chamber of Commerce Austria elected the district Vöcklabruck and was 2007, district chairwoman of the Austrian Economic Association in District Vöcklabruck. She has also been Deputy Federal Chairwoman of Women in Business in the Austrian Business Association since 2007 and has been a member of the WKÖ's trade and craft conference since 2010. In addition, from 2010 to 2015 she was deputy state chairwoman of women in the economy of the Upper Austria Chamber of Commerce . Tiny succeeded Georg Spiegelfeld-Schneeburg , who resigned from the Federal Council on June 1, 2010, who was Federal Councilor until the 2013 National Council election. She has been a member of the National Council (ÖVP) since October 29, 2013 and was the area spokesperson for vocational training and apprentices for her parliamentary group. Since November 7, 2017, Winzig has been sworn in in her second term in the National Council. She is currently the deputy ÖVP club chairwoman, budget spokesperson and chairwoman of the budget committee.

At the European level, she has been Vice President of the European Economic Association (SME Europe), the business and medium-sized business association within the European People's Party (EPP), since 2011 . Since July 2012 she has also been the treasurer of SME Europe.

In the European elections in Austria 2019 , she ran for the ÖVP in third place on the list . With the constituent session of the 9th European Parliament on July 2, 2019, she moved into the European Parliament as a member. Laurenz Pöttinger took over her seat on the National Council . Winzig was appointed deputy head of the ÖVP delegation in the EU parliament under the leadership of the ÖVP delegation, Othmar Karas, or, after his election as Vice President of the EU Parliament, his successor Karoline Edtstadler . After Edtstadler left the EU Parliament in January 2020 due to the move to the Kurz II federal government , Winzig was elected head of the ÖVP delegation.
