Maurice Androsch (born April 25, 1970 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and police officer . From 2013 to 2017 he was regional councilor for minimum income, animal welfare and debt counseling in Lower Austria and from 2004 to 2013 mayor of the municipality of Groß-Siegharts . From November 9, 2017 to October 22, 2019, he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Androsch attended elementary school from 1976 to 1980 and then graduated from a general education college from 1980 to 1984. In 1984 he moved to the Higher Technical School for Forestry, which he graduated in 1990. He then completed military service from 1990 to 1991 and then worked in the forestry service from 1991 to 1993, where he passed the state examination for forestry service in 1994. Nevertheless, Androsch changed his profession and joined the gendarmerie and the police in 1994. He attended the police school from 1994 to 1995.

Politics and functions

Androsch became a member of the municipal council of Groß-Siegharts in 2002 and took over the office of mayor of Groß-Siegharts from 2004 to 2013. Within the party, he has been the SPÖ district chairman of the community representatives association for the Waidhofen an der Thaya district since 2005 and was elected district chairman of the SPÖ for the Waidhofen an der Thaya district in 2012. He succeeded Karl Boden on July 5, 2012 . According to his own statements, his political focus is on Europe and border regions.

Androsch was elected chairman of the Volksheim Groß-Siegharts in January 2012 and has been the vice chairman of the association Cooperation & Education (Koob) , an association that supports regional cooperation and educational measures , since May 2012 . He has also been chairman of Telebüro Groß-Siegharts since 2009 and treasurer of Interkomm Waldviertel, an association for the promotion of communal cooperation, since 2007. Furthermore, from July 2005 to March 2006, he was Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Sparkasse der Stadt Groß-Siegharts AG. He is also chairman of the association “Forum Lebige Textilgeschichte”, chairman of the association “Handwerkstad (t) t” and vice chairman of “ Zukunftsraum Thayaland ”. He also acts as secretary of the Energy Agency of the Regions (RENA) and is active in the EUROPA platform - PRO Waldviertel.

From April 2014 to September 2017 Androsch was regional councilor for minimum income, animal welfare and debt counseling in the Lower Austrian regional government. As the provincial government in the state government Mikl-Leitner I followed him Franz Schnabl after.

Androsch ran for the SPÖ in the 2017 National Council election in second place on the Lower Austria state list, won a mandate and was sworn in in the National Council on November 9, 2017 . After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.

Private

Androsch is married and has three sons.
