Karl Boden (politician)

Karl Boden (born November 4, 1953 in Jetzles ; † November 1, 2019 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and employee of the Austrian Federal Railways . From 1999 to 2012 he was a member of the Federal Council for the Province of Lower Austria .

education and profession

Floor first attended 1960-1964 primary school in Vitis and then moved from 1964 to 1968 at the secondary school in Vitis. After attending the polytechnic course in Waidhofen an der Thaya from 1968 to 1969 , he learned the trade of machine fitter between 1969 and 1973 . As a result, he became a train driver for the Austrian Federal Railways in 1976 .

Politics and functions

Boden began his political career in the union, where he was elected chairman of the railway workers' union of the Schwarzenau local group in 1986. In 1989 he also took over the function of a staff representative for the railway workers 'union and from 1998 worked as chairman of the shop stewards committee in the railway workers' union. Within the party, he was active as district party chairman of the SPÖ Waidhofen an der Thaya from 1998 to 2012, and in 1998 he was elected to the presidium of the ÖGB for the Waidhofen an der Thaya district. Since 2007 Boden has also been a councilor in the market town of Dobersberg. He represented the SPÖ between June 21, 1999 and July 4, 2012 in the Federal Council and from 2002 to 2012 held the function of a folder of the Federal Council. He was also Chairman of the Federal Council's Environment Committee from 2004 to 2008 and Chairman of the Federal Council's Committee on Transport, Innovation and Technology from 2008 to 2012.

Ground was since 2010 Vice-Chairman of the Association New Thaya Valley Railway, which for the reestablishment of between Schwarzenau in Waldviertel running and the Czech border, in 2010 set Thaya Valley Railway starts. From 2008 he also acted as chairman of the Union Tennis Club Dobersberg and as chairman of the Waldviertel border region - service unit for the expansion of independent regional development.

Boden was married and had one child.
