Angelo Celsi
Angelo Celsi (* around 1600 in Rome ; † November 6, 1671 there ) was an Italian cardinal .
biography
Celsi was born in Rome around 1600 as the son of Ortensio and Porzia Monaldeschi. As a member of a noble family, he is distantly related to the cardinals Bernardino Spada and Ulderico Carpegna . After completing his degree in utroque iure , he began his ecclesiastical career as an auditor of the Roman Rota and as a trainee lawyer in the Apostolic Signature .
In the consistory of January 14, 1664 he was raised by Pope Alexander VII to cardinal deacon with the titled deaconry San Giorgio in Velabro . From 1668 he received the title deaconry Sant'Angelo in Pescheria . From 1664 to 1671 he was Prefect of the Council Congregation .
Celsi took part in the conclaves of 1667 and 1669-1670 .
He died in Rome on November 6, 1671 and was buried in the family vault in the church of Il Gesù in Rome.
