Anglachgau

The Anglachgau was an early medieval county in what is now North Baden . According to Pierer's Universal Lexikon of 1857, it was a "small Gau, on the Kraich and Salza, between Philippsburg and Karlsruhe".

designation

The name comes from the name Anglach by the Alemanni after the expulsion of the Romans the Kinzig-Murg River between Rastatt and Mannheim gave. Sometimes the name Angelgau can also be found.

people

The best-known personality associated with the Anglachgau is Gerold von Anglachgau (* around 730; † 799), the progenitor of the Geroldons and thus probably also that of the Konradines , as well as his daughter Hildegard (* 758; † April 30, 783) who is also Hildegard von Anglachgau was called.
