Angler Muck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Angler Muck is an alcoholic mixed drink . The Muck can be described as the "national drink " of fishing , a cultural landscape in the north of Schleswig-Holstein on the Baltic Sea coast between Schlei and Flensburg Fjord . The hot version consists mainly of rum and hot water . In the cold version, grain is usually used instead of rum .

Until the 1960s, the Muck was the basic drink in fishing at larger family or fire brigade parties. It is still drunk today, but not as much as it used to be. The effect of the muck is easily underestimated.

preparation

Original "Angler Muck-Pott"

Muck hot

Hot Muck is served in an "Angler-Muck-Pot" on a warmer .

1/2 liter of good rum is heated with 1/2 liter of water, but must never boil. Finally, it is seasoned with sugar (4 tablespoons) and lemon juice (8 tablespoons) and drunk hot. In fishing, you can drink the muck from special small glasses or from grog glasses.

Muck cold

Lemonade and grain are mixed in a ratio of 3: 1 (up to 1: 1) and refrigerated. For serving, the muck is filled into an "Angler Muck Pot". In another variant, rum and lemon shower are mixed in the same ratio and served with ice cubes.

Angler Muck-Pott

Muck-Pott, Pott also putt = pot , is a name derived from Low German, which is now used colloquially in High German in northern Germany. The original "Angler Muck-Pott" is made of porcelain and has a capacity of 1.5 liters. The angler coat of arms in its original representation from 1847 can be seen on one of the side surfaces . It is framed by a ribbon in the Schleswig-Holstein colors (blue, white, red) with the inscription “How do I love you my fishing”.

The pots were made in the following porcelain factories:

  1. Plank hammer
  2. Valkyrie
  3. Annaburg
