Angu Motzfeldt

Angunnguaq "Angu" Motzfeldt (born April 8, 1976 in Qaqortoq ) is a Greenlandic singer-songwriter .

Live and act

Angu was born in 1976 to Hendrik Motzfeldt and Paneeraq Markussen. At the age of three he became interested in his grandmother's records and cassettes and he began to play his uncle's guitar. As a teenager, he had his own guitar and keyboard. While he attended high school in Qaqortoq, he played in a band from 1994. In 1996 he moved to Nuuk , where he worked as a studio technician and started writing songs himself, all in English. He not only wrote his own songs, but also for other artists.

In 2003 he was supposed to play guitar for the producer Mik S. Christensen for Tupaarnaq Mathiassen , but she didn't appear and so Angu sang the song. After recording, he was signed to Atlantic Music , the largest record company in Greenland.

In 2004 his debut album Angu was released in Greenland and Denmark, which sold 5,000 copies each, for which he received a gold record in Greenland . He then moved to Copenhagen to work on his music career. In 2007 his second album Burning Blue Skies was released . His English-language music is characterized by its international sound. A short time later, he moved back to Nuuk, whereupon he was quiet and he concentrated on a career as a photographer .
