The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge is the southern of the two toll bridge connections between the provincial capital of Nova Scotia Halifax and Dartmouth . The suspended length of the suspension bridge is 762.1 meters. The Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission was responsible for the construction and is still responsible for the maintenance of this and the A. Murray MacKay Bridge to the north . The bridge is named after the former Prime Minister of Nova Scotia Angus Lewis Macdonald (1890-1954).
In 1999 the bridge was modernized.
