Sir Angus James Bruce Ogilvy , KCVO , PC (born September 14, 1928 in London - † December 26, 2004 ) was a member of the British royal family .

The Honorable , since its inclusion in the Privy Council ( Privy Council ) The Right Honorable , Angus Ogilvy was a son of David Ogilvy, 12th Earl of Airlie and Lady Alexandra Coke , daughter of Thomas Coke, 3rd Earl of Leicester .

The businessman became known for his attempts to circumvent the sanctions against Rhodesia, today's Zimbabwe . After his career failed, he turned to charitable work. He was in 1989 as for these activities Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order for beaten knight . Since 1997 he has been a member of the Privy Council .

On April 24, 1963, he married Princess Alexandra Helen Elizabeth Olga Christabel , a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. The marriage had two children, James Ogilvy (born February 29, 1964) and Marina Ogilvy (born July 31, 1966). On the occasion of the marriage, the queen had offered him a hereditary earl dignity . However, Ogilvy rejected this, as well as the use of a suite in one of the royal palaces, because he shied away from the limelight associated with it.

He regularly accompanied his wife on official occasions, but made little public appearances in the years before his death. He had been suffering from throat cancer for a long time , which was ultimately fatal. He was buried in the royal cemetery at Frogmore House .
