Anita Lachenmeier-Thuringia (born October 16, 1959 ) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ).

In 1995 Anita Lachenmeier became a member of the board of the Greens at national level, and in 1997 she was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt . A year later, in 1998, Anita Lachenmeier took up her post as chairwoman of the Green Basel-Stadt and resigned from her work on the board of the Green Switzerland . In the grand elections in Basel-Stadt in 2000, the Greens' share of the vote collapsed dramatically, but Anita Lachenmeier was able to defend her seat. In 2002 she gave up her post as President, only to be re-elected to the cantonal leadership two years later, in 2004.

In the elections on October 21, 2007 , Anita Lachenmeier was elected to the National Council. There she was a member of the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications and the Security Policy Commission until 2011. Due to her election, Anita Lachenmeier has resigned as President and from the Grand Council. She was not re-elected in the National Council elections on October 23, 2011 .

She has been a member of the Grand Council again since 2013.

Anita Lachenmeier is still a member of the management of the Green Basel-Stadt, she also acts as Co-President of the VCS of both Basels. She is also a board member of the Alpine Initiative Association and the district meeting point Kasernenareal . In addition to her mandate from the National Council, Anita Lachenmeier also works part-time as a textile, handicraft and religion teacher at a primary school. She is married and has three grown children.

In the National Council, Lachenmeier was primarily involved in the areas of sustainable transport policy and energy policy, especially the safety of nuclear power plants.
