Anchor post

The anchor post is a device with which a watercraft is fixed to the bottom of the water in order not to be driven off by wind, currents or other influences. In contrast to conventional anchoring , the anchor post does not have to bend , but its use is limited by the depth of the water .

Anchor piles, or so-called stilts, are used in particular on workboats in inland navigation . They are not only used in addition to anchors or for mooring , but in many cases also as the sole positioning of the ship.

When heavy equipment is used on work boats, enormous forces inevitably act on the water bed. There is also a risk of damaging seals, cables or culverts . For this reason, the use of anchor piles has been regulated by law in some waters, e.g. B. in the Rhine Shipping Police Ordinance.
