Ann Twardowicz

Ann Twardowicz , née Ruth Ann Mandel (* 1929 in Columbus , Ohio , USA ; † 1973 ) was an American painter and graphic artist .

Life

Ann Twardowicz studied art at Ohio State University . She was one of the well-known representatives of graphics and painting who worked in the style of Abstract Expressionism . Her best-known works are abstract, colored woodcuts . Ann Twardowicz was married to Stanley Twardowicz (1917-2008), a well-known painter and photographer . Both were friends with Jack Kerouac . She can be seen in numerous photographs with Kerouac when he lived in Northport, New York .

Her work received international attention in the 1950s and 1960s. Twardowicz took part in documenta 2 in Kassel in 1959 .
