The Anna-Forcke pen is a monument protected building in Barsinghausen in the Hanover region .

history

In 1908 the Henriettenstiftung opened a dormitory named after Anna Forcke , a former superior of the Henriettenstift Hannover, for old and sick sisters on the edge of what was then Barsinghausen. The Art Nouveau building was about 1,600 m² of living space and provided accommodation for around 50 residents. After the dormitory ended in 1991, the Mariengemeinde Barsinghausen used the property until 1998. Since then, the building at Bergstrasse 27 has been empty. The associated plot of around 6000 m² became visibly overgrown and the house fell into disrepair. Additional damage was caused by vandalism and a fire on the upper floor in 2012.

The building on the slope of the Deister above the town center of Barsinghausen was considered an architectural gem for decades. The facade is a listed building and, despite its condition, is a "high-quality monument".

In 2016 the property, which had been for sale for several years, was sold to private investors from Barsinghausen.

The property should be divided. For the former Anna-Forcke-Stift, a development plan change for a new access road directly at the edge of the forest to Baltenweg should be discussed in the building committee after consultation with the nature conservation authority. It was planned that the Association for Community Diakonia would rent the building and operate it as a hospice for 10 to 15 patients and their family members. The sale of part of the property was planned as a contribution to the € 3 million cost of the building renovation. The construction of four single-family houses was planned there on a total of 2000 m².

In the course of 2017, after delays in project financing and the associated cost increases, the owners put the project, which had now been calculated at € 3.7 million, "on hold". As a financially viable alternative use of the Anna-Forcke-Stift, they mentioned the conversion of old people's apartments or a nursing home.
