Anna Gabler

Anna Gabler (born in Munich ) is a German opera singer ( soprano ) who is particularly known for her Wagner roles.

Life

Gabler was born in Munich and studied at the Munich University of Music and Theater. During her studies she became a member of the Young Ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera.

This was followed by permanent engagements at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Nuremberg State Theater. In addition, she repeatedly accepted invitations to the Bavarian State Opera and the Semperoper Dresden, where she sang under Ivor Bolton, Fabio Luisi and Peter Schneider. She made her debut at the Semperoper as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel in a new production by Katharina Thalbach, followed by revivals of The Merry Widow and Der Freischütz , as well as the role of the daughter in a new production of the opera Cardillac .

In Bayreuth she sang Ortlinde in Die Walküre under Christian Thielemann from 2007 and in 2009 was entrusted with the role of Senta in the first children's opera production of the Flying Dutchman . International guest performances have taken her to the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris, the Hamburg State Opera under Simone Young, as Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Glyndebourne Festival under Wladimir Jurowski and as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus at the New National Theater in Tokyo, where she made her role debut as Arabella in spring 2014. In 2012 she was invited as Gutrune to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in the new production of Götterdämmerung . She received the “Festival Prize of the Bavarian Opera Festival 2012” for the outstanding performance in this production.

In March 2013 she made her role debut as Senta in Bologna. In summer 2013 she sang Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg for the first time at the Salzburg Festival in a new production under the direction of Daniele Gatti .

In concerts and opera performances in concerts, she sang Mahler's 8th Symphony in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Verdi's Requiem under Yutaka Sado in the Berlin Konzerthaus, Mariana in Wagner's Love Ban in the Alte Oper Frankfurt under Sebastian Weigle, Ortlinde in the Walküre with the Berliners Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle and Beethoven's 9th Symphony in Hiroshima and Tokyo under the direction of Eiji Oue.

In autumn 2014 she made her debut at the Helsinki Opera with orchestral songs by Richard Strauss.

Anna Gabler worked with directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg, Stefan Herheim, David McVicar, Christof Loy and Katharina Thalbach.
