Anna Mayr

Anna Mayr (born September 26, 1922 in Hard ; † March 5, 1966 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), a community worker and a qualified nurse. From 1959 to 1966 she was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Mayr attended elementary school and a nursing school, where she passed the state examination as a certified nurse. She worked in the hospital service during the Second World War and from 1951 to 1966 was employed as a welfare sister in the Hard community.

Politics and functions

Mayr was involved as a member of the union of community employees and was a member of the women's department of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions of the Vorarlberg State Executive. She was sworn in on October 29, 1959 as a member of the Bregenz constituency and was a member of the state parliament until her death. Together with the ÖVP member Elfriede Blaickner , Anna Mayr was the first female member of the state parliament in the Vorarlberg state parliament. She was a member of the Social Policy Committee and at times its deputy chairwoman and, from 1964, also a member of the Education Committee.

In addition to her work as a member of the state parliament, from 1960 to 1965 Mayr was also a member of the local council of Hard as well as a member of the welfare and medical committee, from 1965 until her death she was a substitute member of the local council, a member of the jury and lay jury and a member of the welfare organization - and medical committee. She was active within the party as a member of the state party leadership of the SPÖ Vorarlberg and a member of the SPÖ state women's committee, was local party cashier of the SPÖ Hard until March 1962 and also chairwoman of the SPÖ local group Hard from 1962 to 1966.

Private

Anna Mayr was born as the daughter of the tailor Paul Mayr and his wife Agatha Mayr, née Theiner. She was unmarried and childless throughout her life.
