Her maternal grandparents were the Rostock council cellar master, merchant and wine merchant Johann Heinrich Christian Haase (1780–1855) and the widowed Friederike Christine Leopoldine Ahlers, nee. Act

The Rostock painter Anna Meyer, about whose life little is known, has almost been forgotten today. At the beginning of the 20th century she was one of those painters who repeatedly tried to get her work recognized. In 1904 Anna Meyer and other female painters asked permission to copy works by other masters in the galleries. In autumn 1905 she became chairman of the “Group for fine arts and applied arts”, which had seven women when it was founded. Since she - like many artists - had little money, she is said to have occasionally paid her rent with a picture.

Warnemünde Local History Museum

In 1916 she donated eleven of her oil paintings to the Warnemünde Local History Museum . Nine of these pictures show motifs from Warnemünde and the surrounding area. Today they are again of interest to those interested in the local area and folklorists .

Over the years, the oil paintings on cardboard had been forgotten and badly damaged due to improper storage. They were extensively restored in 1988 by the restorers of the Rostock Cultural History Museum .

death

Anna Meyer died unmarried in Neustrelitz in 1943 and was buried in the New Cemetery in Rostock.
