Anna zu Stolberg-Wernigerode
Countess Anna zu Stolberg-Wernigerode (born September 6, 1819 in Peterswaldau , † February 17, 1868 in Berlin ) was a German deaconess. She was superior at Bethany .
Life
Anna was the eighth child of Count Anton zu Stolberg-Wernigerode and was born in Peterswaldau in Silesia. As a child, the sense of charity was awakened in her. In 1834 she followed her parents to Düsseldorf , where they founded a toddler school a year later and in 1836 the first Rhenish-Westphalian deaconess association. From 1837 to 1840 she lived in Magdeburg and then in Berlin , where she visited the newly founded deaconess mother house. In 1854 she became a deaconess and deputy director there. After the death of Marianne von Rantzau in early 1855, she took over the management of Bethanien as the second superior, where she worked until the end of her life. She died of typhus .
