Princess Anna Elisabeth Reuss zu Köstritz (born January 9, 1837 in Dresden , † February 2, 1907 in Wernigerode ) was a countess by marriage and from 1890 Princess of Stolberg-Wernigerode.

Life

Anna was the daughter of Prince Heinrich LXIII. Reuss zu Köstritz (1786–1841) and his second wife, Countess Caroline zu Stolberg-Wernigerode (1806–1896).

Anna spent her youth at Stonsdorf Castle in Silesia. The artistically talented princess received painting and music lessons in Berlin from 1862, where she met Count Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode , whom she married on August 22, 1863 at Stonsdorf Castle.

The political rise of her husband, who was made Prince of Stolberg-Wernigerode in 1890, enabled the extensive expansion of Wernigerode Castle from 1862 to 1893 in the historicism style . Princess Anna was involved in the design; She created the 8 large tapestries of the castle church together with her daughters and daughters-in-law.

Anna also wrote numerous plays and poems. The best known are " Jagd am Hubertustag " and " Holtemme ".
