Annabelle's Garden is a band from Buchholz in Nordheide , which was formed in 1991 by Derek B. Richards, Anya Zuchold, Peter Spiegel and Jan Drossart. It emerged from the merger of the two previous bands Beyond Despair and La Lisa . In many of their songs the band expresses a strong closeness to nature and a preference for esotericism , stylistically they can be assigned to the dark wave and neofolk environment.

history

Up until 1993 Annabelle's Garden published numerous cassettes as well as some compilation contributions, including on the samplers 040 - Hamburg Strikes Back (1992), Taste This Vol. 1 (1993) and Heavenly Voices Part 1 (1993).

With the works Where are only your gods gone and Blossom Rush , both of which appeared on the British label Kenaz, she was one of the first groups in Germany in the early 1990s to create Neofolk compositions based on the British model and thus gain some fame in Germany, France and Italy achieved. France in particular was interested in music, so Annabelle's Garden entered into a collaboration with the French record company Prikosnovénie and in 1994 released the tape Flowers . Where are your gods gone? Was licensed to the French label Semantic by Kenaz around the same time, but withholding the profits from the band's sales. Kenaz then discontinued the cooperation with Semantic.

Together with artists such as Clair Obscur , Cocteau Twins , In the Nursery or the Dreadful Shadows , Annabelle's Garden performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in 1994 . A year later she performed with Ordo Equitum Solis and Sixth Comm / Mother Destruction . There was especially a deep friendship with Sixth Comm / Mother Destruction, who also received instrumental support during live performances by Annabelle's Garden.

In 2010 Annabelle's Garden experienced a renaissance thanks to the efforts of the US label Dais Records. After the label founders Gibby Miller and Ryan Martin had tried unsuccessfully for several years to contact the former band members, they finally succeeded at the end of 2009 with the result that a cooperation was agreed. In December 2013, Annabelle's Garden released the first of three planned vinyl double albums on Dais under the title Time's No Measure 1987 - 1993 . This not only contains the entire repertoire of their album Wo sind nur ihr Götter hin , but also three rare studio recordings that were previously only heard on compilations and tapes. Time's No Measure 1994 - 1997 is said to be dedicated to the era of the flower rush albums, while the third part of the series is to be dedicated to the early tape recordings of Annabelle's Garden.

Gradually, all of Annabelle's Garden's studio material is to be made available for digital download via the worldwide distributor The Orchard .

Since the end of 2010 Annabelle's Garden has also been producing new material in the constellation Jan Drossart, Fiedi Moehle and Derek Richards, which will be published successively.
