The annals of the Joseon Dynasty (Korean: Joseon wangjo sillok [cosən.waŋʝoʃillok] ) cover the events of 472 years (1392–1863) and make up a total of 1,893 books, written in Hanja . These voluminous works are unique in the history of the world both in terms of size and for a single dynasty. In 1997 they were included as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO .
