Annascaul or Anascaul ( Irish : Abhainn an Scáil / Abha na Scáil ) is a small town with 299 inhabitants (as of 2011) on the Dingle Peninsula in the south-west of Ireland . The Dingle Way long-distance hiking trail runs through Annascaul .
geography
Annascaul is located in County Kerry , about 17 kilometers east of Dingle and about 33 kilometers west of Tralee , Kerry's capital. It is located on the southern foothills of the Sliabh Mis mountain range in the immediate vicinity of Annascaul Lake . Through the village flows Owenascaul River , which the Annascaul Lake drained and below the village in the Dingle Bay opens.
Annascaul is connected to the regional transport network by the national road 86. A bus of the Bus Éireann bus company stops in Annascaul several times a day . This bus runs between Dingle and Tralee.
