Anne-Caroline Chausson (born October 8, 1977 in Dijon , Département Côte-d'Or ) is a former French cyclist. She is the most successful female mountain biker in the downhill and dual disciplines of all time. By the end of her sporting career in 2013, she had won 13 world championship titles.
Athletic career
In the elite class alone, she won 13 gold medals in the disciplines downhill (1996-2003, 2005), 4-cross (2002-2003) and dual (2000-2001). In addition, there is at least one world title among the juniors, which caused a scandal. She wanted to start early in the elite, but because of her age she was only admitted to the junior class by the UCI. In protest, she refused to wear the junior winner's jersey at the award ceremony. Chausson was convinced that with her time she had also earned the elite jersey.
Anne-Caroline Chausson was discovered by Max Commençal doing BMX and rode together with Cédric Gracia in his Sunn team for a long time. The three of them are still friends today. In 2006, all three of them represented a team again - Commençal. Chausson finally resigned from racing after 2005 in order to only be able to go freeriding or drive for films. However, she occasionally takes part in competitions, for example the "Mega Avalanche" downhill marathon in L'Alpe d'Huez . She was able to win this sovereignly in 2006. She had actually planned this step back in 2004, but she was injured shortly before the World Cup. But she did not want to resign without a title. Her successes in biker cross (dual / 4 cross) were just as dominant as her downhill victories. However, it was always her second discipline. Her early competitor was Missy Giove, whose team place Chausson took over after her time at Sunn Volvo-Cannondale.
At the premiere of BMX racing at the 2008 Summer Olympics , Chausson won the gold medal in the women's competition.
Honors
Chausson was honored with the induction into the Hall of Fame of the European cycling association Union Européenne de Cyclisme .
