Anne-Laure Couchepin Vouilloz

Anne-Laure Couchepin Vouilloz (born May 10, 1977 in Martigny ) is a Swiss lawyer and politician ( PLR ). On November 13, 2016, she was elected by the voters as mayor of Martigny, the second largest city in the canton of Valais . She is the first woman in this position in the history of the French-speaking Valais.

Life

Anne-Laure Couchepin is the daughter of former Federal Councilor Pascal Couchepin , who was also mayor of Martigny from 1984 to 1998. After the baccalaureate in Saint-Maurice , they first completed in Lausanne trained as a physiotherapist and worked at the SUVA in Sion . Then she studied law at the University of Lausanne and completed her legal clerkship in Valais. Since then she has practiced as a lawyer.

Since 2008 she has also been a member of the executive as a councilor , responsible for the school system and advocated the expansion of the concept of the integrative school. The primary school Martigny received one of the two main prizes for this integration at the 2013 Swiss School Prize.

Anne-Laure Couchepin is a member of the Cantonal High School Commission and sits on the board of directors of the private commercial radio station Rhône FM .

She is married to lawyer Gonzague Vouilloz and has four children.
