Anne-Marie Sigmund

Anne-Marie Sigmund (born August 11, 1941 in Bratislava ) is an Austrian EU politician and was the President of the European Economic and Social Committee from 2004 to 2006 .

Life

After studying law at the University of Vienna from 1959, she received her doctorate in 1963. From 1964 to 1970 she worked for several law firms, with a focus on civil law . In 1970 Ms. Sigmund switched to the advertising and PR industry. 1970–1982 she was a board member of the Austrian Advertising Council, 1979–2001 Secretary General of the Federal Committee for Liberal Professions in Austria.

EU career

In the run-up to Austria's accession to the European Union in 1995, Anne-Marie Sigmund advised the federal government and played a key role in the PR support for the relevant information campaign. After joining, Austria sent her to the European Economic and Social Committee . 1998–2004 she was Chair of Group III; On October 27, 2004, Ms. Sigmund was finally elected President of the institution. Her two-year term ended in October 2006.

Anne-Marie Sigmund was president of the "Camerata Academica des Mozarteum Salzburg" association from 2006 to 2009. From 2005 to 2007 Anne-Marie Sigmund was president of the World Union of Liberal Professions (UMPL) based in Paris. Since 2011 Anne-Marie Sigmund has been the head of the "European Value Project" at the Institute for European Legal Policy in Salzburg.
