Anne Hamilton, 3rd Duchess of Hamilton
Anne Hamilton, 3rd Duchess of Hamilton ( January 1632 - October 17, 1716 in Hamilton ), was a Scottish noblewoman .
Life
Anne was the only surviving child of James Hamilton, 1st Duke of Hamilton and his wife Margaret Fielding. In 1651 she succeeded her uncle William as 3rd Duchess of Hamilton in her own right. On July 9, 1698, she renounced all of her titles in favor of her eldest son James.

She was married since 1660 to William Douglas, 1st Earl of Selkirk , who as a result of his marriage to the heiress took the name Douglas-Hamilton and became Duke of Hamilton. The couple had at least eleven children:
