Anne Heywood (born December 11, 1932 in Handsworth, now Birmingham ; born Violet Pretty ) is a British actress .
Life
The daughter of a violinist won the Miss Great Britain title in 1949 . She played with the Highbury Players in Birmingham Theater and, still under her real name, received her first small film role in 1951 in Maxie's career as a participant in a beauty pageant.
From 1955 she was seen in larger roles. Especially in Italian productions, she embodied women passionately and tragically in love. In The Nun of Monza she portrayed a nun who is walled up alive as a punishment for a misstep, in The Nun of Verona the leader of a criminal clique of nuns who are ultimately sentenced to publicly drinking the hemlock .
Heywood was married to the film producer Raymond Stross (1916–1988) and remarried in 1991.
