Anne Guardian
Anne Wächter (born July 27, 1931 in Bothenheilingen ) is a German nature and environmental activist .
Life
She was born in Bothenheilingen in the administrative district of Erfurt in the Prussian province of Saxony , grew up on a farm and, after completing school, started training in agriculture. She graduated from the agricultural technical schools in Bad Langensalza and Eisenach and then studied agriculture at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena .
After completing her studies, she worked in the field of vegetable breeding on a state- owned estate in Mecklenburg. In 1957 she got a job at the Central Office for Variety Management in Nossen in the Dresden district , where she worked in the field of variety testing and data processing. In 1966 she moved to the LPG University in Meißen , where she received her doctorate in the field of data processing in 1972 and worked until 1974. The topic of her dissertation was the design of information relationships in industrial animal production facilities, illustrated using the example of the Dedelow dairy cattle facility .
She joined the Democratic Peasant Party and in 1975 became a councilor for environmental protection and water management at the Dresden District Council . As such, she was involved in the organization of the 1st Landscape Day in the Zittau Mountains in 1976 . This was followed in 1977 by the 1st Saxon Switzerland Landscape Day in Bad Schandau . In this context she founded the Saxon Switzerland working group . In 1982 the 2nd Landscape Day was held in Sebnitz .
Due to openly expressed criticism of the GDR environmental policy at the time, she was dismissed as a council member for environmental protection and water management in the Dresden district in 1985. Until she turned 60 in 1991, Anne Wächter worked as a research assistant at the branch of the Institute for Landscape Research and Nature Conservation in Dresden. In addition, she continued to be active, in particular in the regional association of Saxon homeland security and as an editorial adviser to the Saxon homeland sheets . Among other things, she wrote articles for the series Nature Conservation Work in Saxony of the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology and the collection of Nature Conservation in the New Federal States .
