history
The Dolmen of Dedelow (also called Dedelow 1) is located north of Steinfurth. Dedelow was first mentioned in a document in 1320, but was created in the 11th / 12th. Century. In the Thirty Years War (1614-1648) the place was badly destroyed. During the Northern War (1674–1679) between Sweden and Brandenburg, the village was completely destroyed by the Swedes in 1674. There was a manor in the village under the rule of the von Klützow family for centuries . The Dedelow Castle and the farm building were destroyed by arson in 1945 . Today you can get an idea of the location of the castle through old parts of the foundation walls. Red stones in the Bäckerweg mark the location of the front of the castle. In 1968 the first large dairy cattle facility with 2000 cattle was built in Dedelow. A development into a “socialist model village” began, which was significantly shaped by the LPG chairman and MP Friedrich Clermont . As a result, several multi-storey prefabricated buildings were built for the growing number of residents. In 1975 the facility was expanded to 4000 seats. The current operator is Agrarprodukte Dedelow GmbH. With over 2500 dairy cows, she has one of the largest dairy herds in Germany and Europe .
