history

Duration got its name in 1321 by Thidericus de Doweren. It was known as the Dower until 1434 before it got its current name. Duration suffered greatly from the effects of the Thirty Years War . The plague raged in 1630, 1637 and 1638 before a great famine broke out in 1639. In 1616 duration still had 231 inhabitants, at that time the place was almost depopulated. In the following period, however, the population recovered and in 1774 there were 140, in 1890 even 444 inhabitants.

In 1861 a railway line was built that ran on the edge of Dauer. Despite great efforts, however, no stop was set up. It was not until 1894 that a stop with a goods loading point was created as a result of persistent requests and petitions. Ten years later, a postal authority was also established, which established a telephone connection in May 1904.

In 1953 the first LPG (Agricultural Production Cooperative) was founded, which resulted in new settlements and the construction of a prefabricated building in the east of the village. In 1983, the district of Tornow zu Göritz , which had been a permanent part of that time, was renamed. Since 1993, she was part of the Prenzlau-Land office. The permanent train station was closed again in 1995.

During the second municipal reform in 2001/2002, the majority of the residents of Dauer decided to be incorporated into Prenzlau. Therefore, since November 1st, 2001, Dauer has been part of Prenzlau.
