Güstow in the Uckermark district

Güstow is a small village in northeast Brandenburg ( Germany ) in the Uckermark district with 178 inhabitants. The Mühlhof municipality belongs to Güstow .
geography
The village is about 105 km north of Berlin and 55 km west of Szczecin ( Poland ). In the east of Güstow the river Quillow, which comes from Dedelow and flows into the Ucker , runs in the south, the river Strom which flows into the Quillow.
history
Güstow was first mentioned in a document in 1259 under the name Thidemannus de Gustowe . In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the von Arnim family. In 2001 it was incorporated into the city of Prenzlau.

Important buildings and memorials
Village church Güstow
The village church of Güstow is a rectangular field stone building with a retracted rectangular choir. It was built in the middle of the 13th century. In the east wall of the choir there is a group of three windows made up of lancet windows , with panels and round windows in the gable above. In 1713 the church was restored, only the medieval west tower was not restored. In its place a square neo-Gothic brick tower was built in 1866 .
Güstow war memorial
The Güstow war memorial is by the church. It is a tiered obelisk-shaped monument that was crowned with an imperial eagle or an iron cross. On the front is a plaque with the words “Your sons who died in the World War . The grateful community of Güstow ”. The names of the fallen are engraved on the other sides.
Wind field on Lindenberg
The wind field at Lindenberg was put into operation in June 2000 with 7 wind turbines. In the following years it was expanded to 26 systems.

Transport links
The L25 runs through Güstow in the direction of Prenzlau via Mühlhof (east) and Fürstenwerder via Schönermark (west) and the L253 to Dedelow . The federal highways 11 and 20 run near the village near Prenzlau. Today the place has 2 bus stops. There are buses from Monday to Friday on lines 411 (Prenzlau-Dedelow), 416 (Prenzlau-Fürstenwerder) and 419 (Prenzlau-Parmen), which together run every hour between Prenzlau and Güstow. On Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays there is a 2-hour cycle by dial-a-ride buses on lines 416 and 419. The Uckermärkische Radrundweg, the castle & church tour and the manor's bike tour runs through the village . The nearest international airport, Szczecin-Goleniów, is about 85 km northeast of Güstow.
