Klinkow in the Uckermark district

Klinkow is a small village in northeast Brandenburg ( Germany ) in the Uckermark district with 212 inhabitants and is a district of Prenzlau. The borough of Basedow belongs to Klinkow .
geography
The village is about 107 km north of Berlin and 57 km west of Stettin ( Poland ). In the west of Klinkow, the Quillow river coming from Dedelow runs on its way into the Ucker . The Klinkower See is located south of the village.
history
Klinkow was first mentioned in a document in 1320 with the names "Petrus and Johannes de Clinckow". The place was owned by different gentlemen. In 1375 Klinkow was listed with a mill under "Klynkow" in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg . The place was built as a peasant and street perch village . In the Middle Ages there were several mills on the Quillow River that belonged to Klinkow. The village became a combing village of the city of Prenzlau.
On July 1, 1950 Basedow was incorporated.
From 1993 Klinkow belonged to the Prenzlau-Land office . Klinkow has been a part of Prenzlau since 2001.
Important buildings and memorials
Klinkow village church
The Klinkow village church is a rectangular stone building from the 2nd half of the 13th century. The east gable contains a group of three windows. In 1945 the church burned down completely. The medieval altar from 1522 and the Renaissance pulpit were destroyed. It was restored in 1951 with a new western half-timbered roof tower with two bells. In the church there is a carved wooden winged altar from 1522.
Klinkow war memorial
The Klinkow war memorial is at the entrance to the churchyard. It is a split granite boulder that stands on a field stone base . In the stone above is an iron cross, below is a tablet. There are the words " Death for his country died in the World Wars 1914-1918 . " And 10 names of fallen soldiers engraved . There is a relief of oak leaves under the panel. The memorial was later supplemented by a plaque attached to the base. This plaque reads " In memory of the fallen, missing and displaced persons 1939–1945 ", and the names are listed below.

Transport links
Only a small country road runs through Klinkow towards Prenzlau (east) and Basedow (west). The federal highways 11 and 20 run near the village near Prenzlau. Klinkow has a bus stop. From Monday to Friday there are buses 411 (Prenzlau-Dedelow) and 401 (Prenzlau- Woldegk ), which together run every four hours between Prenzlau and Klinkow. The Uckermärkische Radrundweg and the Gutsherren Cycle Tour run through the village . The next international airport, Stettin-Goleniów, is approx. 87 km northeast of Klinkow.
