Steinfurth is a small village in northeast Brandenburg ( Germany ) in the Uckermark district . With only about 40 inhabitants, the place is one of the smallest districts of the city of Prenzlau. The village is part of the municipality of Dedelow .
geography
The village is about 112 km north of Berlin and 62 km west of Szczecin ( Poland ). The Steinfurther Bach flows north of the village and has its source near the village and flows into the Ucker west of Schönwerder .
history
Steinfurth was first mentioned in 1861 and belonged to the Klützow family estate in Dedelow . The family owned the entire field that the people tilled. These lived in small thatched houses and were day laborers for the landlord . Despite the austerity measures, the earnings were only enough to cover the essential expenses. The estate threatened to deteriorate under the management of the landlord's heirs and was therefore leased. The situation did not get any better, however, because there were now two gentlemen who wanted to make a living from the work of the residents. The tenants of the estate were only interested in making high profits, so there were no repairs or renovations . In 1945 the estate burned down due to the effects of the war, the cattle were also killed and most of the machines were destroyed. The land reform now gave those who tilled it. The day laborers now became farmers. By the command 209 of the Soviet administration via Bodenreformbauten new homes were created. In 1985 the road to Dedelow was completed.
