history
The current municipality of Göritz was already in the Stone Age around 2000 BC. Settled. A remnant from the subsequent Bronze Age , a so-called bowl stone , can be found in the hallway "Hopps Qual" near Gootskamp. After the turn of the times , the Teutons first settled in the area , as evidenced by finds of pottery shards, which the Slavs took their place in the 6th and 7th centuries . The first church was built around 1250, before Göritz was first mentioned on June 11, 1346.
From the 12th to the 15th century, the place came under German influence. After the dispute between Pomeranians, Brandenburgers and Mecklenburgers over the ownership of the Uckermark, a contract was signed between Pomeranian dukes and Brandenburg margraves near Göritz in 1440 . During the disputes about the Uckermark, more and more German residents moved to the area around Göritz, which developed in its current basic structures as a street and anger village . In the centuries that followed, the Göritz estates frequently changed hands before the nobility gained increasing influence. During the Thirty Years' War , the town was temporarily devastated .
In the GDR, the first LPG was established in Göritz in 1952 , followed by another in 1960.
Administrative history
Göritz belonged to the Prenzlau district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Prenzlau district in the GDR district of Neubrandenburg from 1952 . The community has been in the Brandenburg district of Uckermark since 1993.
The area was changed in 1928 when the village of Malchow was incorporated into the municipality of Göritz, and when Tornow was incorporated in 1982.
Göritz belonged to the Prenzlau-Land office from 1992 to 2001 and changed to the Brüssow office (Uckermark) with effect from November 1, 2001 .
