Carmzow-Wallmow is a municipality in the far north of the Uckermark district in Brandenburg . It is administered by the Office Brüssow (Uckermark) based in the city of Brüssow .

geography

The municipal area lies on a ground moraine that spreads between the parallel valleys of the Ucker and Randow . It is characterized by many small lakes and ponds as well as intensive agriculture and a few forest areas. A large number of wind turbines can be found in the area . Carmzow-Wallmow is located between the cities of Brüssow and Prenzlau .

Community structure

The community consists of the districts Carmzow and Wallmow and the districts Cremzow , Hedwigshof and Wendtshof.

history

Carmzow and Wallmow belonged to the Prenzlau district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Prenzlau district in the GDR district of Neubrandenburg from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Uckermark.

The municipality of Carmzow-Wallmow was created on December 31, 2001 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Carmzow and Wallmow.

Carmzow

Archaeological finds between the church and the Bröckersee allow the existence of a Slavic settlement for the 12th and early 13th centuries. The first documentary mention of the place is documented as karnssow for the year 1354.

The Carmzow district is located on the L 252 state road between Schönfeld and Uckerfelde . The closest motorway junctions are Prenzlau-Ost on the Baltic Sea A 20 and Schmölln on the A 11 Berlin– Stettin .

The nearest train station is in the district town of Prenzlau, which is 15 kilometers southwest .

education

In 1999 a free school was opened in Wallmow.
