Wallmow is a district of the municipality of Carmzow-Wallmow in the Uckermark district in Brandenburg . The village has almost 300 inhabitants. It is close to the borders with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Poland .

In 1999, Wallmow was awarded the State Environment Prize for its ecological and social commitment, won the nationwide Tatort competition and won the “ Our village has a future ” competition.

history

The first documentary mention of the place can be attested with in villa Walmow for the year 1283.

On December 31, 2001, Carmzow and Wallmow merged to form the new municipality of Carmzow-Wallmow.

Personalities

  • Friedrich Sarow (born February 25, 1905 in Wallmow, † July 19, 1983 in Schruns / Austria) was a German economist, editor of Thuringian SPD and SED newspapers. From 1947 he was head of the economic department of the newspaper "Telegraf" in Berlin.
