Randowtal is a municipality in the Uckermark district in northeast Brandenburg (Germany). She belongs to the Gramzow office .

geography

The Uckermark municipality Randowtal lies east of the district town of Prenzlau and extends from the ground moraine area between the parallel valleys of the Ucker and Randow over the terminal moraine arch on the western edge of the Randowtal to the Randow, which forms the border with Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . While the bottom of the Randow glacial valley is approx. 17 m above sea level. NHN is, the Endmoränenhügel rise up to 80 meters above sea level. NN. The landscape, speckled by small lakes, is used intensively for agriculture, apart from small forest areas on the slopes.

history

Eickstedt was first mentioned in a document in 1271. The place name is associated with Dominus Fredericus de Ecstede and the branched von Eickstedt family. The knight family (around 1700 three knight seats are occupied in Eickstedt) ruled in the area between Prenzlau and Randow. The name von Eickstedt later appeared among colonial officers, high officials, district administrators and explorers.

Schmölln was first mentioned in 1239, Schwaneberg and Ziemkendorf in 1288.

Administrative history

Eickstedt, Schmölln and Ziemkendorf belonged to the Prenzlau district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Prenzlau district in the GDR district of Neubrandenburg from 1952 .

On January 1, 1973, the border to Ziemkendorf was incorporated, on January 1, 1974 Wollin was incorporated into Eickstedt and Schwaneberg into Schmölln.

Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Uckermark.

The municipality of Randowtal was created on December 31, 2001 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Eickstedt, Schmölln and Ziemkendorf.

traffic

Randowtal lies on the L 25 state road between Prenzlau and Penkun and the L 251 to Brüssow. The A 11 ( Berlin - Stettin ) leads through the southeast of the municipality with the Schmölln junction .

The next rail connection is in Prenzlau, about 14 km away on the Angermünde – Stralsund railway line . The railway Prenzlau-Loecknitz with the breakpoints Eickstedt , Schmölln and Schwaneberg was on 30 June 1997 shut down .
