geography

The Uckermark moraine landscape in and around the area of ​​the municipality of Oberuckersee was shaped by the Ice Age . The receding ice masses left behind a hilly flat land that is dotted with many lakes (see Uckermärkische Seen ). These lakes are the remnants of residual ice that collected large amounts of water when thawing in the hollows and hollows. Many remaining boulders, so-called boulders , are evidence of the enormous ice movements 15,000 years ago.

One of the larger lakes in the area - the Oberuckersee , through which the Ucker flows - gave its name to the community that was created in 2001 and extends in a semicircle around the lake.

The extraordinary wealth of lakes is a special characteristic of the young moraine landscape in northeast Brandenburg .

history

Blankenburg, Seehausen and Warnitz belonged to the Angermünde district since 1817 , and Potzlow to the Templin district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg . In 1952 the four places were incorporated into the Prenzlau district in the GDR district of Neubrandenburg . Since 1993 they have been in the Brandenburg district of Uckermark.

The municipality of Oberuckersee was created on December 31, 2001 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Blankenburg, Potzlow, Seehausen and Warnitz.

The district roads K 7315 and K 7318 connect the districts with each other. The Warnitz motorway junction on the A 11 Berlin – Stettin is located in the municipality.

The breakpoints Seehausen (Uckerm) and Warnitz (Uckerm) are located on the railroad track Angermuende-Stralsund and from the regional express line RE 3 Stralsund -Berlin- Falkenberg (Elster) and the Regional line RB 62 Prenzlau - Angermuende operated. The former Quast stop has been passed by trains without stopping since 1995.
