Schönfeld is a municipality in the far north of the Uckermark district in Brandenburg . The municipality is administered by the office of Brüssow (Uckermark) based in the city of Brüssow .
geography
The municipal area lies on a ground moraine that spreads between the parallel valleys of the Ucker and Randow . It is characterized by many small lakes and ponds as well as intensive agriculture and a few forest areas. A large number of wind turbines can be found in the area . Schönfeld lies in the middle of the triangle Brüssow - Prenzlau - Pasewalk .
Schönfeld is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rollwitz in the north, Fahrenwalde in the northeast, Carmzow-Wallmow in the southeast, Schenkenberg in the south and Göritz in the west.

The municipality of Schönfeld consists of the inhabited parts of the municipality Karlshof, Klockow, Neuenfeld and Schönfeld.
history
Schönfeld belonged to the Prenzlau district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Prenzlau district in the GDR district of Neubrandenburg from 1952 . The community has been in the Brandenburg district of Uckermark since 1993.
Neuenfeld was incorporated into Schönfeld on July 1, 1950, Klockow on January 1, 1958.
Schönfeld
The village was first mentioned in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 as Sconenvelde . The place name could mean settlement in a beautiful field, piece of land , a typical name from the colonization period.
Districts
- Karlshof: The first documentary mention of the place was given as Karlshoff for 1818 .
- Klockow: First mentioned in 1255 as Clokow . The spelling Klockow was known since it was mentioned in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg of 1375. The probably Slavic place name meant settlement, which was named after a man Klok . It contained a surname that belonged to the verb klokati (gush, boil, growl, rattle).
- Neuenfeld: first mentioned as Nyenvelt in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375. Since the 16th century it was in the hands of the Lords of Winterfeld as Gut Neuenfeld, today the Winterfeld GbR joint venture.

traffic
Schönfeld is located on Landesstraße 252 between Damerow and the intersection with the L 26 to Prenzlau . The federal highway 109 runs five kilometers to the west between Pasewalk and Prenzlau.
The federal highway 20 ( Kreuz Uckermark - Lübeck ) runs between Schönfeld and the districts of Klockow and Neuenfeld. The closest connection points are Pasewalk-Süd and Prenzlau-Ost .
