history

Temmen and Ringenwalde belonged to the Templin district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Templin district in the GDR district of Neubrandenburg from 1952 . Since 1993 the places have been in the Brandenburg district of Uckermark.

The municipality of Temmen-Ringenwalde was created on December 31, 2001 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Temmen and Ringenwalde .

Temmen

In 1375 the former Angerdorf appears for the first time in a document as "Tempne". A distinction has been made between "Alt Temmen" and "Neu Temmen" since the middle of the 18th century, when Neu-Temmen was created as a Vorwerk. Poratz has been part of Temmen since 1969.

Ringenwalde

The area around Ringenwalde was settled as early as the Neolithic . This is evident from a burial mound south of Ringenwalde, around 3,500 years old, with an information board and a reconstructed grave.

The church in Ringenwalde was consecrated in 1280, the nave dates from this time . In 1311 a place "Ryngenwolde" is mentioned for the first time; the first margravial document is documented in 1316.

Saldern-Ahlimb hereditary burial site in the park

Between 1740 and 1742 the Counts Saldern-Ahlimb had an Italian architect build a castle and laid out the park that is still there today. In 1829 the castle burned down completely and was rebuilt between 1830 and 1854. From 1820 to 1840 the previously baroque park was transformed into a landscape park under the influence of Lenné .

In 1898 the place was connected to the Britz – Fürstenberg railway line .

The English style park was chosen by the counts as a hereditary burial site . There they erected a neo-Gothic brick building from 1903 to 1904 . It was restored in 1992 and 1993. The castle was used as a military hospital during the Second World War and, with the approach of the Red Army in 1945, it was blown up by units of the Waffen-SS . A year later the ruins were removed. The park became overgrown over the years and between 1991 and 1993 it was restored in accordance with a listed building.

Poratz

First mentioned in a document in 1375, the Vorwerk was owned by the von Ahlimb family for almost 500 years (until 1872). From the 18th century Poratz developed into a charcoal burner village . Some simple half-timbered houses from this time have remained unchanged to this day.
