Akmenė Church of St. Anne

The Anne Church Akmenė (lit. Akmenės Šv. Onos bažnyčia ) is the Catholic church in the city Akmenė on the right bank of the Dabikinė (tributary of the Venta ) in Lithuania .

history

According to the inventory, in Wolost Dirvėnai there were three Włóka priest fields in Akmenė (then Dabikinė) in 1561 . In 1596 48 Włóka were donated to the church and a community school was built.

In 1705 the church burned down and was then rebuilt. It was destroyed in 1802 and rebuilt in 1806. Today's church is a neo-Gothic brick building with a tower by Karl Eduard Strandmann, built between 1907 and 1912 .
