Annika Schmidt (born May 4, 1993 in Herrenberg ) is a German soccer player .

Career

In his youth, Schmidt played at FC Gärtringen and moved to Sindelfingen in 2004. Since the 2009/10 season she was part of the Sindelfingen second division team. After 13 and eleven appearances in their first two seasons, respectively, they only came to one use in the 2011/12 season . She completed this on May 6, 2012 in the game against 1. FC Köln in the unfamiliar position of goalkeeper. On this match day, the regular goalkeeper Simone Holder was suspended after a red card she had seen two games before and the substitute goalkeeper Kristina Schnüll had to leave the field injured after a collision with her teammate Tamar Dongus in the second half. At the end of the season, Sindelfingen was promoted to the women's Bundesliga as champions of the southern season of the 2nd Bundesliga . Schmidt made her debut there on October 3, 2012 in the away game at FCR 2001 Duisburg , when she came on for Jana Spengler towards the end of the game . In autumn 2013 Schmidt left Sindelfingen and went to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to study , where she will play in the Ragin Cajuns Women Soccer Team.
