The Anoplagoninae are a subfamily of marine fish from the family of armored bulls (Agonidae), which occurs in the northern Pacific and with one species each in the northern polar sea ( Ulcina olrikii ) and in the western North Atlantic ( Aspidophoroides monopterygius ).

features

The species of Anoplagoninae are 8.5 to 22 cm long and have an elongated body. Of the normally two dorsal fins of all bull relatives , only the rear one is present in the Anoplagoninae, which is symmetrically opposite the anal fin. The fish's bone plates have no spines and no clearly visible center. The bone plates between the pelvic fins are strikingly large. The tabular (a skull bone) is missing.
