Anséric I of Montréal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anséric I of Montréal (French: Anséric de Montréal ; † January 26 , probably 1170 ) was a lord of Montréal ( House of Chacenay ) in Bourgogne . He was a son of Hugo von Montréal († after 1119) and Helvis von Baudémont.

Anséric was under the tutelage of his stepfather Guido I von Dampierre for the first few years ; his first recorded act as Lord of Montréal dates back to the year 1145. In 1147 he announced his participation in the second crusade , with which he and his cousin Jakob von Chacenay established the long tradition of his family as a crusader. Under Duke Odo II of Burgundy , he temporarily held the office of ducal seneschal. Anséric was last documented in 1170. The Notre-Dame-de-Montréal necrology records his death on January 26th, without naming a year of death.

Anséric I was married to Adelheid von Pleurs, with whom he had at least four children:

  • Anséric II († 1191), lord of Montréal.
  • Johann I († 1191), Lord of Arcis-sur-Aube.
  • Guido († 1199), lord of Beauvoir-sur-Serain.
  • Helvis, heiress of Époisses ; ∞ with André I., Lord of Montbard ( House Montbard ).

Remarks

  1. In dynastic continuity, he is sometimes also called "Anséric III.", Provided he is recognized as the nephew of Anséric II of Chacenay .
